2017 Summer Camp Theme Descriptions

Let’s get acquainted
Children will get to know each other through group activities, fun games, and projects.

Art Studio
Kids love doing a variety of arts and crafts as an outlet to be creative and have some fun! Little do they know that through art they become a better problem solver, increase self-awareness, and learn to be more expressive.
In this week’s art camp children will learn different methods of abstract art through the work of Jackson Pollock. They will also learn different techniques of shading, sketching and drawing using the zentangle method.

3-D Printing/Design 
Using TinkerCad, students will learn how to create geometric shapes using tools such as group, resize, and reshape, and how to combine geometric shapes to create

Web Designing
Students will choose from a list of topics and create a website using HTML and CSS. They will have to research the topic given to them and think about the framework of the website they want to build. They will get familiar with reading, writing and debugging HTML code.

Young Leaders Camp
This week’s theme is all about leadership, entrepreneurship, team work etc. They will learn about important facets of leadership and how to inculcate leadership qualities in themselves. Children will be visiting 3 major business campuses to understand how these companies work. They will learn how young entrepreneurs started and developed these companies into what they are today. They will take the tour of the campus and will talk to a leader of the company. The last day children will be asked to share their experiences through a group presentation like a skit.

Nature Explorers
Nature Explorers help children to create deep connections to the natural landscape through experiential nature awareness and hands-on wildcrafting activities. Campers will explore the environment through their senses, games, survival skills, tracking, and much more!

Robotics Workshop
Students will be taught how to make a simple robot with pieces from the Lego Mindstorms EV3 set. The students will then create basic EV3 programs on Lego Mindstorms software using dragand-drop sensor, movement and logic blocks. Students will download these programs onto the robot and will execute them. These programs will make the robot move, turn and sense in order to accomplish tasks. Students will learn Core Values including collaboration and cooperation.

Coding Workshop
Python is a general-purpose, versatile and popular programming language. It’s great as a first
language because it is concise and easy to read, and it is also a good language to have in any
programmer’s stack as it can be used for everything from web development to software
development and scientific applications.

Olympics
In the Olympics, students will be taken to the park and will take part in heats (trials) of races like sprint, hurdles, lemon-on-the-spoon, 3-legged race, and other individual and team-relay races. The top contenders in each category will take part in the grand finale and the winners will be awarded in a presentation ceremony. Children will be taught about the history of ancient and modern Olympics and will be shown videos of some popular moments in Olympic history. Children will be educated how participation is more important than winning.

Photography
This course provides practical instruction in the fundamentals of digital photography. Children will learn concepts such as exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and will explore how these different factors affect the photos.

Game Design Workshop
In this course students, will create their very own game from scratch that they can publish on their PC, Mac, iOS or Android device. Children will create every aspect of the game from the background, characters and animation and workflow. Students can even upload their games on Google Play and the App Store

Carnival
Children will spend the entire week preparing for the carnival and making goods to sell such as jewelry, artwork, and tickets to play games. On Friday, the carnival will be open to parents and the students will sell the objects they made. Kids will learn skills including unit pricing, production process, handling money, marketing and working together. Afterward, all the carnival earnings will be donated to a charity
